Food Relief to Food Resilience Strategy
About this Consultation
The development of the new Food Security to Food Resilience Strategy represents an opportunity to further tackle food insecurity and transition Tasmania from reliance on food relief toward building resilient, sustainable food systems. Food insecurity in Tasmania is a complex challenge, influenced by economic, social, and environmental factors.
As we transition to a resilience-focused model, it is critical to consider not only the provision of immediate food relief but also the systemic changes needed to empower communities, enhance sustainability, and create long-term solutions.
This consultation process is designed to capture the diversity of Tasmanian voices on this matter and combine the insights from government systems and policy-makers, service providers and community organisations as well as the lived experience of Tasmanians.
The consultation framework prioritises six key themes for discussion:
Effective Food Relief and Resilience Approaches
Support for At-Risk Groups
Collaboration and Partnerships
Sustainability and Climate Resilience
Community-Led Solutions
Data and Measurement
